A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PARK,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN A WATER CONSERVATION
FINANCIAL PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DALLAS COUNTY PARK CITIES
MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Dallas County Park Cities Municipal Utility District ("District") is
required to develop, adopt and submit a Water Conservation Plan to the Texas Commission
on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) every 5 years in accordance with 30 T AC §288.30;
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors approved the newest Water Conservation Plan at its
April 8, 2014, meetin g and this plan was submitted to TCEQ:
WHEREAS, the purpose of this plan is to implement programs that provide for and
encourage the reduction of water us e by its customers;
WHEREAS, the District is a wholesale provider of drinking water to the City of
University Park ("'City"), which controls the di stribution and sale of water to its
citi zens;
WHEREAS, the City must also develop and adopt Water Conservation Plans;
WHEREAS, District feels that it can obtain the greatest reduction in water usage through
programs geared towards the citizens ofthe City;
WHEREAS, the Di strict proposes to provide funding. from surplus revenues. to the City to
assist it in carrying out its water conservation program proj ects;
WHEREAS, the City has identified and begun the purchase and installation of Advanced
Metering Infrastructure as the project that w ill give it the greatest impact on reducing water
usage in the City; and,
WHEREAS, the City IS in position to utilize funds that the Distri ct proposes for such
projects;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF UNIVERSITY PARK, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The C ity Counci I hereby acknowledges and accepts the disbursement of
funds from the Di strict to the City of University Park . Texas, in the amount of $648,000 for
implementation of the City's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (Smart Meters) program
within its distribution system.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of University Park, Texas, on this
the 3rd day of February, 2015.
