HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 14_020 Temporary Parking PermitsORDINANCE NO. -=-14:..!../..::..02::..:0:.. ___ _ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PARK, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PARK, CHAPTER 12, TRAFFIC CONTROL, BY AMENDING SECTION 12.05.044 TO PROVIDE FOR TEMPORARY PARKING PERMITS AND TEMPORARY PARKING PLACARDS; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PARK, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Chapter 12, Article 12.05 "Parking", Section 12.05.044, of the Code of Ordinances, City of University Park, Texas, is hereby amended in part to provide as follows: "Sec. 12.05.044 Temporary permits and placards (a) ... (b) ". (c) Residents of a resident-parking-only zone may be issued two temporary parking placards per household at no cost. Temporary parking placards must be renewed annually, provided that placards issued in the Hillcrest East and Hillcrest West zones shall expire December 31 of the year in which they were issued, and placards for the High School zone shall expire on June 30th. Application for temporary parking placards shall be made to the police department on a form provided by the department. Placards must be conspicuously displayed, in a manner and location in the motor vehicle approved by the police department, so as to be clearly visible from the street." SECTION 2. All provisions of the Code of Ordinances of the City of University Park, Texas, in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. Should any word, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or section ofthis ordinance or ofthe Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, be adjudged or held to be void or unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of said ordinance or the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, which shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction in the municipal court of the City of University Park, Texas, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed the sum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) for each offe nse. SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the publication of the caption, as the law and Charter in such cases provide.
