AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PARK, TEXAS, AMENDING
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PARK BY
AMENDING CHAPTER 13, ARTICLE 13.04, DIVISION 2, "CROSS-CONNECTION
CONTROL AND BACKFLOW PREVENTION" TO REQUIRE TESTING OF
BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY
PARK, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 13, Article 13.04 of the Code of Ordinances, City of
University Park, Texas, is hereby amended by amending Division 2 "Cross-Connection Control
and Backflow Prevention" in part as follows:
"Division 2. Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention
Sec. 13.04.071 Testing of backflow prevention devices
(a) All reduced pressure principle backflow devices and any backflow preventer protecting
a fire sprinkler system shall be tested and inspected at least annually.
(b) All required device testing shall be performed at the owner's expense by a tester licensed
by the State of Texas and registered with the City of University Park.
(c) The owner shall submit test reports to the City of University Park or its designee in
accordance with applicable State regulations. The filing fee for such test report shall be
set by the City Council in the City's Master Fee Schedule by appropriate Resolution.

SECTION 2. All ordinances of the City of University Park in conflict with the provisions
ofthis ordinance or the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. The provisions of this ordinance are severable and should any such provision
be declared unconstitutional or unenforceable, such declaration shall not affect any of the
remaining provisions hereof or the Code of Ordinances as amended hereby.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage, as
the law and Charter in such cases provide.
