AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PARK TEXAS,
ABANDONING A PORTION OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF GLENWICK ILANE, AS
MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AND DEPICTED IN EXHIBIT "A" A~TACHED
HERETO, SUBJECT TO THE PROVISION BY THE ABUTTING OWNER, IDGHLAND
PARK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, OF ALLEY, PUBLIC UTILITY AND
ACCESS EASEMENTS IN THE FORM AND OVER THE AREAS DESCRIBED IN
EXHIBIT "B" ATTACHED HERETO; PROVIDING FOR THE FURNISIDNG OF A
CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS ORDINANCE FOR RECORDING IN THE REAL
PROPERTY RECORDS OF DALLAS COUNTY, TEXAS, AS A QillTCLAIM DEED OF
THE CITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of University Park, Texas, has determined that a
certain portion of the street right -of-way of Glenwick Lane, as described and depicted herein, is not
needed or necessary for public purposes by the City and any claim to it should be abandoned to the
abutting owner, subject to the provisions of this ordinance; Now, Therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY
PARK, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The City of University Park hereby abandons and quitclaims, in favor ofthe
abutting owner, Highland Park Independent School District, a portion of the street right-of-way of
Glenwick Lane, being more particularly described and depicted in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and
made a part hereof for all purposes, the same as if fully copied herein, in the City of University
Park, Dallas County, Texas (the "abandoned area").
SECTION 2. That the City of University Park does not abandon any other interest other
than described in Exhibit "A", but does hereby abandon all of its right, title, or inte~est in the
described real property, together with any and all improvements thereon, if any.
SECTION 3. Upon delivery to the City by Highland Park Independent School District of
approved and fully executed alley, public utility and access easement agreements for det1erminable
easements with rights of reverter, in the form and over the areas described in Exhibit "B" attached
hereto and made part hereof for all purposes, the same as if fully copied herein, the City Secretary is
directed to prepare a certified copy of this ordinance and furnish the same to Highland Park
Independent School District for recording in the Real Property Records of Dallas County. The City
Council fmds that the fair market value of the interests described in Exhibits "A" and "B", as
determined by an appraisal obtained by the City for this purpose, are roughly equivalent. The
recording of this abandonment ordinance in the Real Property Records of Dallas County, Texas,
shall serve as a quitclaim deed of the City of University Park of all such right, title or interest of the
City of University Park in and to the abandoned area, plus all improvements thereon, if any.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage, as
the law and Charter in such cases provide.

Being a g,sbo square foot (0.21a1 acres) tract of land situated in the P. Popplewell Survey,
Abstract No. 1145, City of University Park, Dallas County, Texas, being part of Glenwick
Lane (a 50' right-of-way), created by the final plat for Preston Heights, recorded in Volume 1,
Page 505, Deed Records, Dallas County, Texas, and being more particularly described as
follows:
BEGINNING at a 1/2" iron rod found in the south right-of-way line of said Glenwick Lane at
the northeast comer of Lot 10, Block 5, of said Preston Heights Addition and the northwest
comer of Lot 12A, Block 5, Glenwick Place Condominiums, an addition to the City of
University Park, recorded in Volume a3122, Page 2021, Deed Records, Dallas County,
Texas, from which a 1/2 inch iron rod found in the north line of a 15' alley bears South ooo
2a• 15" East, a distance of 142.50 feet for the southeast comer of said Lot 10, and the
southwest corner of Lot 11, in said Preston Heights Addition;
THENCE South ago 31' 45" West, along the common line between said Glenwick Lane, said
Lot 10, and Lots g, a, and the east 40' of Lot 7, of said Preston Heights Addition, a distance
of 1go.oo feet to a chiseled "X" in concrete found at the southwest terminus of said Glenwick
Lane, on the north line of said Lot 7 and an east line of Lot 1 RA, Block 4, Preston Heights
Addition, an addition to the City of University Park as recorded in Volume 2003167, Page
oooga, Deed Records, Dallas County, Texas, from which a chiseled "X" in concrete found in
the north line of said 15' alley and the south line of said Lot 7 bears South ooo 2a• 15" East a
distance of 142.50 feet for the most southerly southeast comer of said Lot 1RA;
THENCE North ooo 2a• 15" West, along the common line between said Lot 1 RA and the
terminus of said Glenwick Lane, a distance of 50.00 feet to a 1/2" iron rod with yellow plastic
cap stamped "RLG" found for an interior ell comer of said Lot 1 RA at the northwest terminus
of said Glenwick Lane;
THENCE North ago31'45" East, along the common line between said Lot 1RA and said
Glenwick Lane, a distance of 1g0.00 feet to a 1/2" Iron rod with yellow plastic cap stamped
"RLG" set in said common line, from which a 1/2 Inch Iron rod with yellow plastic cap
stamped "RLG" found at the intersection of the west line of a 15' alley and the north line of
said Glenwick Lane bears North ago 31' 45" East, a distance of 50.00 feet for the most
easterly southeast comer of said Lot 1 RA;
