RESOLUTION NO. 07 -07
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY
PARK, TEXAS, APPOINTING THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT TO ACT AS
THE BOARD OF APPEALS PROVIDED FOR BY THE INTERNATIONAL CODES
AND THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODES ADOPTED BY THE CITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has enacted an Ordinance adopting the 2006 editions of
the International Building Code, the International Residential Code for One and Two Family
Dwellings, the International Energy Conservation Code, the International Mechanical Code, the
International Plumbing Code, the International Fuel Gas Code, the International Fire Code, and
has adopted the 2005 edition of the National Electrical Code; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Adjustment is suitable in most instances to serve as the
Board of Appeals provided for under each of such Codes; NOW THEREFORE;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY
PARK, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Board of Adjustment is hereby appointed to act as the
Board of Appeals as required and constituted by the 2006 editions of the International Building
Code, the International Residential Code for One and Two Family Dwellings, the International
Energy Conservation Code, the International Mechanical Code, the International Plumbing Code,
the International Fuel Gas Code, and the International Fire Code, and by the 2005 edition of the
National Electrical Code.
SECTION 2. To the extent any case appealed requires it, the Zoning Board of
Adjustment may require for its public hearing the expertise, testimony and opinion of a
recognized qualified professional other than the involved administrative official to assist it with
regard to interpretations of such Codes in order to resolve an appeal before it.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage,
and it is accordingly so resolved.
Duly passed and approved by the City Council of the City of University Park, Texas, on
the 3rd day of April 2007.
